Scanlon, Nietz, and Murch, LLC and Whitewater Tax & Consulting, Inc. has been serving businesses and individuals since 1971. While our primary service area is Southeastern Minnesota; we work with clients all around the world. Between our offices in Plainview, Wabasha, Rochester and Dodge Center, Minnesota, we have a team of 16 employees assisting our clients year around. We work with individuals, small businesses, Governmental agencies and non-profits. The following industries are among the many we serve: farming, retail, construction, manufacturing, recreational, hospitality, day care, professional/technical services, and real estate. Whether it’s accounting, tax or audit services; our experienced and well-trained staff will take a personal interest in your business needs.
 
 
 
  
 
Tim Scanlon  
 
Tim Scanlon, CPA is the senior partner at Scanlon, Nietz & Murch, LLC and President of Whitewater Tax & Consulting, Inc. While starting his public accounting career in the mid 80’s with a large southeastern Minnesota accounting firm, Tim and his wife moved to Plainview, Minnesota to raise their family. After working seven years in public accounting, Tim took a Controller position at a large area retailer. Tim held that position until he joined David Osweiler, CPA as partner in 1996. 
 
Tim’s areas of concentration include business and individual tax planning and preparation and small business consultation.  This includes helping businesses improve their bottom line and helping individuals starting a business, or in the buying or selling of a business.
 
Tim is also a very active member of the community.  He currently holds the following positions: St. Joachim's Church Finance Board Chair, Benedictine Health System Foundation Board Member, St. Isidore Health Center's Advisory Board, P-E-M School Booster Club Treasurer, Knights of Columbus Grand Knight, Plainview Area Chamber of Commerce Finance Committee, Rotary Club Treasurer and Plainview American Legion Finance Officer. In his free time Tim enjoys camping, hiking and traveling with his wife and 2 children, golfing, running and supporting the local school sports teams.
 
 
 
 
Bill Nietz

Bill Nietz, CPA is a partner at Scanlon, Nietz & Murch, LLC and an officer of Whitewater Tax & Consulting, Inc. Bill's career in public accounting started in the Twin Cities in the early eighties and except for a five year stint as Controller with a private cleaning and supply company, has been working with clients for over 25 years. Bill works out of the Rochester office.

Bill's areas of concentration include small business planning, individual income tax preparation and auditing for not for profit organizations. He consults with a wide range of industries, including construction, real estate, restaurants and retail to name a few.

Bill is very active in the Rotary Club of Rochester, having served in many capacities including president in 2004. Other community involvement includes work with the public schools and as an accounting advisor for the accounting program at Rochester Community & Technical College.

In his leisure time, Bill enjoys travelling (both domestic and international) with his wife Sandy, playing golf, learning the guitar, and exploring the Whitewater Valley of Southeastern Minnesota. Bill also enjoys hosting "The Bill and Curt Rock Show", a weekly rock radio show on KRPR, the local classic rock station in Rochester. 

 
 
 
Frank Sullivan
 
Frank Sullivan, EA (Enrolled Agent), is an owner of Whitewater Tax & Consulting, Inc. Frank’s accounting career started in 1969 as an accountant for a poultry processing company. He worked there until 1979 when he began his public accounting and tax preparation career. Frank passed the Enrolled Agent exam in 1990. The Enrolled Agent exam is a two day exam on all aspects of income tax. An Enrolled Agent has the same powers as a CPA or an attorney before the Internal Revenue Service.
 
Frank’s areas of concentration include accounting, tax preparation and tax planning for farms, small businesses, estates and fiduciaries.
 
Frank is active in the Kellogg American Legion and is member of the Greenfield Township Board. Frank’s leisure time is spent on yard work, collecting toy farm tractors, going to antique farm equipment shows, and traveling during the summer time.
 
 
 

Mark Murch

Mark Murch, CPA, MBA , is a partner at Scanlon, Nietz & Murch, LLC and an officer of Whitewater Tax and Consulting, Inc. Mark has been involved in public and private accounting for over 20 years, having served as controller to several private companies as well as public accounting.

Mark’s areas of concentration include not for profit financial and compliance auditing as well as business and individual tax planning and preparation, small business consulting in a wide range of industries including, construction, periodicals and trucking, to name a few.
Mark is very involved in the growth of soccer in the local communities as an administrator, coach and referee in the recreational, traveling and high school systems.   Mark also enjoys scuba diving, sailing and running as well as spending time with his wife Cindy and three children.
